Nissan Z Proto unveiled with manual gearbox and twin-turbo V6

The Nissan Z will be back next year, and we now have more information about the equipment it will offer. The new Nissan Z Proto was unveiled earlier this month as a concept version, but one that isn’t far from being production ready.

The next Nissan Z has a bit of a retro style, but that is also modern. Above all, it shows the distinctive visual touch of Nissan's legendary Z family. Nissan also unveiled some technical data on the engine that powers the Z Proto and which could very well be found on the next-generation Nissan Z scheduled for next year.

The engine in question is a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that develops either 300 or 400 horsepower depending on the version in the Infiniti Q50. Nissan claims the upcoming Z will offer similar numbers while indicating that the engine under the Z's long hood will be tweaked somewhat. Good news for purists, Nissan also indicates that the Z will offer a six-speed manual transmission!

We will definitely have more details about the new Nissan Z in the coming months.
