Nissan Unveils Two Impressive New Concepts

Nissan has always been at the forefront of automotive innovation by pioneering new technologies and demonstrating its vision for the future with the help of impressive concepts. In preparation for the upcoming Tokyo Mobility Show later this month, Nissan has unveiled two new concepts, the Hyper Urban, and the Hyper Adventure, two futuristic electric SUVs that give a glimpse of what the future of mobility might look like in a few years.

For urban drivers

As its name indicates, the Nissan Hyper Urban concept is made specifically to cater to the lifestyle of urban and suburban professionals who prioritize connectivity and the environment. As such this angular SUV benefits from a number of sustainable solutions that help it remain at the cutting edge of technology longer, thus negating the need to buy a newer vehicle every few years. This is exemplified by the extensive over-the-air update capabilities and the possibility to swap out the dashboard for a newer one that better reflects the changing trends in car design. In addition, the Hyper Urban concept’s design blends into the urban landscape with its lime yellow paint that changes colour depending upon where the light hits it. Inside, the Hyper Urban concept features a design inspired by kaleidoscopes and front seats that can turn into a sofa to make a relaxing space for two people.

For those who like to get away from the city

Nissan knows not everyone wants to live in the urban jungle at all times, and this is where the Hyper Adventure concept enters the picture. This sporty-looking SUV features the e-4ORCE all-wheel drive powertrain pioneered by the Ariya and chunky crampons on the tires in order to go anywhere, especially on snowy and muddy roads. A generous cargo space and extendable steps make carrying hobby items such as bikes and skis very easy. Another interesting feature of this concept that makes adventuring more convenient is its V2X (vehicle to everything) capability which allows the energy stored in the battery to power almost any electrical piece of equipment, such as camping lights, e-bikes, or electric cooktops, for example.

Intelligent charging solutions

Both the Hyper Urban and Hyper Adventure concepts benefit from innovative charging solutions that aim to make life with an electric vehicle easier. For example, both are equipped with V2H and V2G (Vehicle to Home and Vehicle to Grid) capabilities, which means that the energy they keep in their battery can be exploited for other uses than actually driving the car. For example, the Hyper Urban and Hyper Adventure concepts can be used to power a house during a blackout or even to send back unneeded energy through the grid in order to help smooth out the peaks and valleys of power demand throughout the day. In addition, both concepts feature artificial intelligence that manages the power that enters or leaves the battery at all times in order to better control the charge level and make ownership more seamless and convenient.
