Nissan rides its impressive SUV lineup to global sales success

Japanese automaker Nissan has one of the most complete new SUV lineups in the entire automotive industry. Indeed, there is an SUV for every need and budget in the Nissan range, and that selection has led to an impressive number of sales last year.

More than 2 million Nissan SUVs sold last year around the world

A total of more than 2 million Nissan SUVs were sold last year globally. Of that number, 1.38 million were from the Nissan Qashqai/Nissan Rogue/Nissan X-Trail lineup. The Nissan Kicks also went on sale in a few markets (it will be coming to Canada later this year) and the refreshed Nissan Armada also did very well with more than 80,000 sales in North America and the Middle East.

"The improvement in our global crossover and SUV sales made a significant contribution to Nissan's growth in 2017," said Daniele Schillaci, executive vice president for Nissan. "We increased crossover and SUV sales by nearly 230,000 units last year and expect our momentum to accelerate in 2018 as we expand Kicks availability to the U.S. and Canada”.
