2022 Nissan Rogue vs. 2022 Mazda CX-5: Two SUVs that impress

When Nissan introduced the Nissan Rogue a few years ago, the Japanese automaker launched what would become Canada's most impressive line of sport utility vehicles. Today, Nissan has a host of different SUV models, but the Rogue remains one of its most popular. It faces stiff competition, however, like the 2022 Mazda CX-5 for example. To stand out from the crowd, the 2022 Nissan Rogue can count on several advantages, especially in terms of interior space and fuel economy.

More cargo space in the 2022 Nissan Rogue

Nissan's SUV is one of the most spacious in its class with over 1,100 liters of cargo space behind the rear seats. Compared to the Mazda CX-5, the Nissan Rogue 2022 offers nearly 300 more liters in the trunk. This is a significant difference, especially when you consider that most consumers will buy an SUV for its cargo space and versatility. If this is your case, you're going to want to prioritize the 2022 Nissan Rogue.

Increased safety in the Nissan Rogue

The other thing that sets the 2022 Nissan Rogue apart from the 2022 Mazda CX-5 is the safety and driver assistance technologies found in the former. The Rogue is in fact the only SUV in its class to offer a technology called ProPilot that not only warns you of potential dangers on the road, but also intervenes in a very advanced way to prevent a potential accident. Compared to the Mazda, the Rogue can not only warn you of a lane change, but it will be able to guide the vehicle's direction to follow the curves of the road and keep you on the right track even when cornering. We're talking about a system that's much more similar to the driver assistance technologies found in German luxury car manufacturers than in traditional Japanese models.

With its new three-cylinder turbo engine, the Nissan Rogue is also more economical than the Mazda CX-5. This engine consumes only 7.6 liters per 100 kilometers on average while the CX-5 consumes more than 9.0 liters per 100 km. Moreover, for the same price, this engine is much more powerful than what the 2022 CX-5 offers with 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. The CX-5's turbo engine is more powerful, but it's much more expensive (over $45,000) and less economical. You can get the turbocharged three-cylinder engine in the Rogue for just over $35,000.
