2020 Nissan Pathfinder vs 2020 Toyota Highlander

The Pathfinder is an exciting midsize crossover that delivers a new design in 2020. The slightly larger Pathfinder is powered by an efficient six-cylinder engine. Its seating for up to eight passengers make it a great choice for your family. However, great vehicles match up to and can beat the competition in features that are important to you. Here, we compare the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder to the 2020 Toyota Highlander.

The 2020 Nissan Pathfinder emerges in the details

Both the Pathfinder and Highlander start with some similarities. The Nissan Pathfinder features a 3.5L six-cylinder engine that generates 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. The Highlander’s gas engine includes a 3.5L six-cylinder as well. Both vehicles have similar fuel consumption ratings. The Highlander has an available hybrid, but this model only gets 243 horsepower.

What makes the Pathfinder different is that it includes intelligent four-wheel drive through a system that you can adjust between 2WD and 4WD. This gives all Pathfinder owners more choices that other 4WD and even AWD systems don’t offer. You’ll have optimum performance at your fingertips whether you want to hit the trails in the mountains in 4WD or cruise around town more efficiently with 2WD. The Highlander only offers either FWD or AWD separately.

When it is time to get out and hook up your favorite recreational craft, ATV or even your small camper, the Nissan Pathfinder offers 2,722 kg of towing power. That’s quite a bit more capability than the Highlander’s limit of 2,268 kg and nearly double the amount of the Highlander Hybrid.

The 2020 Nissan Pathfinder packs in volume and more

When you need extra cargo volume, the Pathfinder offers advantages over the Highlander. With the third row folded and behind the rear seat, it offers more space, including up to 453 litres behind the third row.  When all seats are folded, the Pathfinder deploys 2,260 litres of space, while the Highlande only gets 2,065 litres.

The Pathfinder also offers several amenities you won’t find in the Highlander, including a hands-free liftgate, remote engine start, smart device integration, and rear seat audio controls. This provides more options to enhance convenience, functionality, and entertainment when you own a Pathfinder.
