2022 Nissan Rogue gets new 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo engine

The 2022 Nissan Rogue is getting a significant improvement or at the very least a major addition for the 2022 model year. Indeed, the new Nissan Rogue will feature a 3 cylinder 1.5 L turbo engine that uses variable compression ratio technology to improve both performance and fuel economy.


This engine is available on the 2022 Nissan Rogue SV and above with all-wheel drive. Designed to deliver exceptional fuel economy while also offering impressive power, this new engine uses an exclusive variable compression ratio technology that is capable of modifying the compression ratio in real time depending on how the driver is using the vehicle.

 

Variable Compression Ratio Makes All The Difference


The compression ratio is one of the most important components of the engine. It measures the level of compression in the cylinder which ultimately impacts both fuel consumption and performance. For example, a low compression ratio like 8 :1 means there’s more pressure and more boost which improves performance. On the other hand, a high compression ratio like 14:1 means better efficiency and less fuel consumption.


The new Nissan Rogue 3-cylinder engine has the ability to vary the compression ratio from 8:1 to 14:1 in order to go from more power to more efficiency depending on how you are driving the 2022 Nissan Rogue. So, if you are driving down the highway and simply cruising, the compression ratio increases to enable better efficiency. If you need power, however, the 2022 Nissan Rogue has plenty of it on tap with 221 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque!
