The 2019 Nissan Altima is truly a unique sedan

The mid-size sedan segment is in renewal with several new models introduced recently. The 2019 Nissan Altima will be the most recent model to be introduced when it enters the market in a few months.

To stand out, it promises a host of safety technologies, more efficient engines, a style that will stand out in traffic and a brand new all-wheel drive system. Yes, you read that correctly, the 2019 Nissan Altima will be offered with AWD.

The latter will provide much better stability for the Nissan sedan when the road is slippery in addition to offering very reassuring handling in all situations. The Altima becomes only the second mid-size sedan to offer all-wheel-drive as standard equipment in its segment.

80% new engine for the 2019 Nissan Altima

The Nissan Altima will be powered out of the gate with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder developing 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Although this engine seems on paper not to be so different from the old engine propelling the Altima, Nissan says that more than 80% of the components are new.

"To develop the new 2.5L engine, we started by reviewing the basic features one by one, like the design of the combustion chamber. In the end, we get a better performance and a lower fuel consumption significantly better than the previous engine - in addition to a NVH (noise, vibration and roughness) improved and greater flexibility in the design of the front ", José Muñoz, Director of Performance at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. said.

The new Altima will also receive a host of safety enhancements starting with the addition of ProPilot Assist. The latter is a group of high-end driver assistance systems that is significantly more advanced than what we find elsewhere in the segment. In particular, the system has the ability to keep you on the road by automatically adjusting the steering and automatically braking in case of danger.
