How a pre-owned Nissan Rogue stands out against a used Hyundai Tucson

We look at how two popular compact SUVs on the used vehicle market compare with this used Nissan Rogue vs used Hyundai Tucson overview. We focus on 2019 models here, but the information here would be relevant in most years.

If you are looking for a pre-owned compact SUV, you have many options at your disposal. Two of those options are the Nissan Rogue and the Hyundai Tucson. Both the Rogue and the Tucson have been staples in the compact SUV segment for years now. They are among the best-selling compact SUVs on the market, and whether new or pre-owned they are usually at the top of the list of anyone looking for a used SUV. Here, we take a look at each option and how they compare in terms of interior space, value, and other elements that are important for anyone looking for a pre-owned SUV.

A pre-owned Nissan Rogue will be more efficient and more spacious than a used Hyundai Tucson

Our first consideration should be the engine, specifically the fuel economy of each model. Nowadays, a used SUV's fuel economy matters more than ever when you're buying one. Although we buy a pre-owned SUV for its interior space and versatility, we don't want to have to sacrifice fuel efficiency when it's not necessary. Pre-owned Nissan Rogue models offer impressive fuel economy with an average fuel consumption of 9.6 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 7.5 Liters per 100 kilometers on the highway thanks to recent improvements made to sport utility vehicles. This vehicle gets better fuel economy than many of its competitors, including a pre-owned Hyundai Tucson that averages 10.8 l per 100 km and 9.2 l per 100 km.

When buying a pre-owned sport utility vehicle, fuel economy is a very important factor, but chances are that you are most concerned with interior space and cargo capacity. With a cargo capacity of 1,113 liters, the Nissan Rogue really stands out. The Hyundai Tucson, however, has a cargo area of 878 L, which is acceptable, but significantly less than the Rogue. Compared to the Hyundai, the Nissan Rogue has nearly 300 L of extra cargo space. In addition to offering a lot of rear seat room, the Rogue is a great option if versatility is important to you.

When we compare the horsepower and torque numbers of a used Nissan Rogue and a used Hyundai Tucson, we find that the Nissan Rogue offers slightly more performance. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine in the Rogue produces 170 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, while the Tucson in most pre-owned models will deliver 161 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. On the road, you'll notice a subtle difference. With the Rogue, you get ample performance for a compact SUV without sacrificing fuel efficiency.
