Unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in early January and then at the Montreal International Auto Show, the 2017 Nissan Qashqai will surely be one of the most popular new models to hit the market this year. Expected this spring, the Qashqai will fit between the Nissan Juke and the Nissan Rogue in the already full lineup of Nissan SUVs.

Compact dimensions, but plenty of space in the new 2017 Nissan Qashqai

The new 2017 Nissan Qashqai will compete in the now crowded subcompact SUV segment. Consumers interested in this segment want a versatile vehicle, but they also do not want their vehicle to be too big or too difficult to drive when they are in an urban environment.

In this respect, the new Qashqai has almost perfect dimensions. Shorter than the Rogue by about 12.1 inches, the Qashqai 2017 will certainly be easy to park in town and drive in tight environments, but in return its cargo space reaches 1,730 liters if the rear seat is lowered, and 648 liters with all seats in place. In addition, the Qashqai benefits from the Divide-N-Hide storage system which adds a lot of versatility to the passenger compartment.

With its muscular and dynamic style that does not lack of refinement, the 2017 Nissan Qashqai is certainly very elegant. It will be offered with a choice of 10 colors and 19-inch wheels will be available in the options catalog.

Inside, the 2017 Nissan Qashqai takes advantage of Nissan's "Gliding Wing" interior design which creates an intimate and symmetrical space where passengers will immediately feel comfortable. Leather and heated seats, power driver seat, smart key with push-button start, NissanConnect connectivity system, dual zone climate control, remote start and 7.0-inch touch screen with navigation are all optional.

As standard, the Nissan Qashqai receives a rearview camera, a Bluetooth system with text message assistant, an auxiliary jack and a USB port.

A fuel-efficient and powerful engine under the hood of the 2017 Nissan Qashqai

The 2017 Nissan Qashqai will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing 141 horsepower and 147 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine will be paired with a standard six-speed manual in front-wheel drive models while all AWD versions are equipped with a CVT continuously variable automatic transmission. Fuel economy should be very impressive if you look at other Nissan SUVs.
