2016 Nissan Titan XD: Bigger really is better
Nissan designed this truck to get some serious attention on the road, and does it ever.

It’s common knowledge that the Americans “own” the pickup truck category. Well, Nissan’s come along to shake all that up with the brand new 2016 Nissan Titan XD. With all the capabilities of a heavy-duty rig and the amenities and drivability of a light-duty truck, the Nissan Titan XD might be the ideal blend of the two, and the perfect pickup because of it.

The 2016 Nissan Titan XD is Here to Stay

In a segment that’s dominated by a select few, Nissan’s taken on the bigwigs with possibly the very best they’ve ever had to offer: the brand new 2016 Nissan Titan XD. Built to do some serious heavy work, but also save a bit at the pumps (we’ll get to that in a moment), the Titan is just that; a titan in the pickup world.

Let’s start with the uber masculine and slightly aggressive exterior design. This thing is massive in every sense of the word from the oversized and chromed grille to the fact that it is actually over 20-ft long from nose to tail. With all that length you get a Crew Cab configuration with a 6.5-ft bed, as well. Nissan designed this truck to get some serious attention on the road, and does it ever. Larger than life this beaut, when properly equipped, has a maximum towing capacity of 12,000lbs and a max payload of 2,000lbs.

That’s some serious work power right there.

All-New and All Powerful

How does the 2016 Nissan Titan XD do it? Well, under the beefy, huge hood sits a powerful Cummins 5.0L V8 turbo diesel engine that offers up 310 horsepower and whopping 555 lb-ft of torque. Coupled to a 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission, this truck really is equipped to take on any job, especially when it can also be outfitted with a PRO-4X package that means all four wheels get to workin’ when you press the throttle.

Step inside the Nissan Titan XD and you’re greeted with an interior that’s both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Gauges, steering wheel and centre stack are instantly recognizable as Nissan fair, but instead of focusing on the gadgets and do-dads, Nissan smartened up to the fact that truck buyers (serious truck buyers) aren’t concerned with smartphone integration and head-up displays, they want their trucks to work and work hard. So, that’s where Nissan put its engineering and time, and rightfully so.

There’s no denying that the 2016 Nissan Titan XD is taking on some serious heavy-hitters in the pickup truck segment, however, the Japanese automaker have proven their taking this all quite seriously, especially when you look at the capacity and capabilities figures.
